Do You Need a travel certificate for your pet?
Did the airlines find a mistake in your pet’s travel certificate?
Call us! Oak Elm Animal Hospital is located minutes from O’Hare International Airport!
Oak Elm Animal Hospital is USDA Certified to offer International Health Exams and Certificates for pets traveling with their owners.
Every pet that is traveling requires a health certificate stating that they are free from disease and can endure the rigors of travel. Health certificates for domestic travel can be completed by any licensed veterinarian. However, health certificates for international travel must be filled out by a specially trained veterinarian accredited by the United States Department of Agriculture.
The regulations for exporting a pet from one country and bringing them into another varies considerably depending on the destination country. It can be quite complicated, and often requires very specific bloodwork and vaccinations. Our USDA accredited veterinarians can sort through these requirements and get your pet ready for their trip. This will avoid any issues that may cause delays or even refusal at entry. In most cases we help eliminate or greatly reduce the time of quarantine.
If you are planning to travel internationally with your pet, or may do so in the future, please call us during our regular business hours at 847-759-1440 to start getting your little world traveler ready for their exciting voyage!
